Everything you need to know to provide the best home for your new companion
Diet & Nutrition
Balanced diet of 60% pellets, 30% fresh produce, 10% treats. They love berries, grapes, mangoes, and carrots. Sprouted seeds are excellent additions. Fresh water always available.
Housing & Environment
Minimum cage size 24"x24"x30" with 5/8" to 3/4" bar spacing. Love to climb and hang upside down - provide ladders and swings. Multiple perches at different heights.
Social Needs
Highly social flock birds that thrive with interaction. Need 2-3 hours daily handling. Can do well in pairs. Known to be loud - consider neighbors before adopting.
Health Considerations
Prone to Conure Bleeding Syndrome (vitamin K deficiency) and Proventricular Dilatation Disease. Regular health checks important. Watch for signs of feather plucking.
Training Tips
Eager learners that respond well to positive reinforcement. Not the best talkers but can learn some words. Excel at tricks and games. Clicker training works wonderfully.
